My First Royal

Post  korkskrew on Mon Nov 10, 2008 4:00 pm

At my home game last Saturday.

Flopped it actually; then just check/called till the river when I check/raised half the pot. The money fire hose that was betting the whole time called with K's up. $40 pot in a 25/50 cent game ain't bad but wasn't as big as the $200 pot I won later I ended up tripling my money.

This is actually the third Royal we've seen at my game. Even with all the games we play, all three were in Texas Hold'em.

I think the bad-luck streak is officially dead.

<--- too lazy to read this hand without being it being converted....

DOH!!

NH man. When I had my first I was shaking so bad from adranaline I could hardly hold my mouse still. If it had been in a live game I probably would have given off such a bad tell that I had a monster that I probably would have gotten a walk.

Very nice indeed! And getting paid off on it makes it soooo much better. Way to go.

I tend to think of myself as being too much of a rock, so it always shocks me when I get a monster paid off.

This is where being an idiot actually gave me an advantage. I mis-read my hand at first and thought I only had a flush. I still knew it was best, so after it went check-bet on the turn I was sitting there thinking about how to get paid off, and rechecked my cards. That's when I noticed. I knew he would bet the river if I just called, so I decided to make it look like I didn't believe him on the river.
