affraid Man, what a cold deck. I think your play was ok. Without a read, we beat most of his calling range on the flop. True, he could have 2 pair or set, but AT, AQ, Q9+, sd are also there. Doubt we can get away from the hand. Since we're not getting away from the hand, we need to max. value for when we are ahead. Question is how do we get it all in?

We want to punish villain for chasing. 28.75 in pot on turn. He has 23.90 behind. Will he put it all in with a draw, JJ, top or AT+, or do we need to chunk it? Perhaps 15, then 9.

Danny,

Quit trying to disguise your bad beat posts. Very Happy

IMO this hand is fine. Just bad luck. REALLY bad luck actually.

I try to picture myself as the player with the PP 10's and I don't think I play it any different then him. Either way he's getting all in after the flop and I don't see how you lay it down unless you have a perfect read on this person. Just a bad flop which you win majority of the time.

This is true.

Besides, if you bet lower on the turn (say, $18) and you're raised here, you're unlikely to fold in that spot, either.

Just a crappy bad beat, really. You played it fine.

well you got 100 BB into the middle with one pair....my thinking is that long term this will not be a profitable thing to do.

With that being said, in a .25/.50 online game maybe it is...probably not a ton of solid players at that level...but I can't beat that game so what does that say about me? Crying or Very sad

Villain's call on the flop set you up for this. He's probably making a brag post on neverwin or pocket5s. I think I'd do it pretty much the same as you

Honestly the only hands where I am losing big pots lately are all pretty much bad beats and I guess that is a good thing. It just seems that every hand I post where I played wrong I am posting because I know I played it wrong. This one felt right so I thought I would post it and make sure I am not too far out of line here.

Thanks for all of the replies everyone!

I just don't see how this is a bad beat?? the guy had a solid starting hand, called a re-raise and flopped middle set....this happens quite often (what is it like 1 in 8 times) against an over pair and he got paid off.....Bad beat would have been a K 10 x flop where he quads up on the river.....

not saying you can really fold here....this is probably just one of those hands where you are going to go broke when the other guy flops a set with an under pair....actually Barry G. discussed this very thing on his audio blog...I will see if I can dig it up one of these days...

I should say the only times I get beat lately they have had absoloute monsters. This in no way is a bad beat, that would imply that I was ahead in the hand at some point which I wasn't. It's just unfortunate to flop a decent hand where I could easily have him beat and run into trips (and eventually quads).

In that case, you're likely not 3-betting preflop, so no, the hand is not played the same.
