Roxbourough game on the 10th Empty Roxbourough game on the 10th

Post  PoWdA Tue May 06, 2008 8:13 am

<---- in

That is if I can get there I want in.

I can't do the 17th game at kkravecs anymore so I negotiated with the boss and can come out to play on the 10th. As most here know my car is not exactly the kind of car that drives anywhere so getting there might be a little difficult but the female has not yet objected to me driving her car so I should make it no problem. So who all will be there from this site? For those who don't know about the game it is posted at www.milehighpoker.com and the guys seem pretty open to getting a lot of players down there.

So, if you will all excuse me I have to go ban myself for plugging another site here but expect to see me on the 10th!

Also I wanted to mention that my avatar is awesome.

In that pic I have Humberto on my left and Forrest on my right in the $1500 Razz event. Somehow the camera guy got a picture of me contemplating some difficult decision even though I have clearly already mucked. Good camera guy.

Also, do cash games normally break out when a tourney table breaks? I generally am there for the ring games but play the toureny in the mean time.

At the last one, they had a cash game going once the first table broke. They converted it into a second tourney once the first was finished. I don't know what games were played, nor which stakes or buy-ins (I was busy taking 3rd in the main event).

Okay I believe you. If you said you were taking 1st or 2nd I would have to confirm with other sources.

They'll usually start up a cash game once a table is open. It's limited to flop games mostly and small stakes but it's generally pretty fun.

Danny, where do you live? I MIGHT be able to offer you a ride if you can pay the $1,283 for gas. Very Happy

yes there is usually a cash game....I can't guarantee there will be more than hold em played though....it all depends on who is at the table...a few of us love other games, some are stubborn...I'm honestly not hating hold em so much anymore....just tournies...they are becoming boring to me...I am hoping we can change our format to something much deeper come July after everyone has done their WSOP thing...

Compared to what I play, these are deep stack tourneys. I'm used to playing the SNG's on pokerstars with 1500 starting stack and 10 minute blind levels. The 3000 starting stack and 40 minute levels are huge in comparison.

I guess once you consider the hands/minute, they end up being closer than that.

Yeah it sounds like an awesome structure. What time of day does this thing start again? I am so in.

They say it's the same structure as the WSOP. I don't know if it is or not, but it works.

The game starts at 6:30, but most of us show up at 6.

I am pretty sure the slowest structure at the WSOP is 1 hour blind levels but 40 is still awesome. This game must run pretty late! Sounds awesome. I am a HUGE fan of tourneys with good long blind levels.

the levels are shorter at 40 minutes....but the starting stack and blind increases are the same as a $1500 event

I still want to go to the stallion structure in July...I made a post about it awhile back and everybody seemed to be on board...(I think everyone was a little hesitant to try it at first since David rarely has anything productive to contribute in the poker world)

The last game we allowed re-buys for the first hour and the game was still done by 11:30. The re-buys were limited to only people who busted completely within the first hour, and I think there were 3 last month (including the eventual winner).

I think it was just the first level, but yeah I'll save my "other money" to donk off in the cash game

You'd know if you ever played in the Loomis Invitational (which was a complete cluster fuck last year Embarassed ). You basically start REALLY deep so it takes the blinds a bit to catch up. Lots of play early, but the blinds go up fast enough that you're not there all night.

what tourney isn't though? I don't remember it being that bad at the end...then again I was a bit inebriated flat out drunk....not that I am here to condone drunk driving or anything....but I seriously almost had to sleep in my car cause I couldn't figure out to get out of east Aurora Kansas.

Seriously though, some people in our poker circle run a deep stack $100 game every couple of months and it is 30 minute levels, 10,000 chips, and blinds start 25-50....and the LI structure was even deeper at 30 minute levels, 2500 chips, blinds started 5-10....was the best structure I've ever played with...you start 250BB deep.

There's one game I play in once in a while (although it's held monthly), that is the deepest tourney you will ever play in. The host will take a standard 1000 chip set and divide ALL the chips out among the 5-8 players. Chip values: White = .05, Red - .10, Blue = .25, Green = .50 and Black = 1.00. So each player ends up with $25 or $30 to start, then it's .05 antes all night. Usually about 3 hours into it the antes *might* go up to .10 if everyone is still in. You can steal the antes with just about any hand with a $1 raise. This game will usually run about 6-8 hours and is usually called about 3am with 3-4 players left because everyone is too tired to care. They will never play heads-up. Once the game gets down to 2 players (in-the-money), first place is the big stack and wins the buy-ins, second gets his buy-in back.

I think we should start playing a cash game similar to this...maybe $.05/$.10 blinds but a minimum buy-in of $50

would be cool to play 500BB deep.

Um, if you count dex getting bounced when his decent sized all in was called for 80% of some guys stack.

They guy called of 80% of his chips with J2 off and hit trip deuces on the turn. I don't remember what Keith had but it really doesn't matter. Shit like that makes you wonder why people show up to play at all. Everyone was really cool but that guy sucked really really bad. I think his name was like po or something. He may have been at Andy's game a few months back. It wouldn't be so bad if the re-buys were over but that was just plain stupid. He also crippled another guy by calling all-in with 46 sooted and flopped a straight against marks KQ soooted. Honestly, please stand up and leave next time.

<--- feels sorry for Keith, that was sick, and wrong.
