As a part of our advocacy, the Colorado Chapter of the Poker Players Alliance has researched the positions of the candidates for the upcoming Republican primary on the issue of your right to play poker on the internet.

The Democratic primary is not contested in the 6th Congressional District.

The following summarizes our analysis of each of their positions:

Mike Coffman

Mike is a supporter of your right to play poker online. He also supports reasonable regulation by the government to protect game integrity and player funds. He also notes that the best government regulation is the least government regulation.

Steve Ward

Steve highlighted his opposition to any form of gambling or poker in Colorado, noting that he voted against all gaming legislation while in the Colorado legislative. Steve thinks that a responsible adult should not be allowed to choose what they want to do for recreation and favors a total ban on internet poker.

Ted Harvey

Ted opposes the lottery as a regressive form of government funding. He is ambivalent about internet poker and will study the issue before forming a position.

Wil Armstrong

Did not respond.

Looks like Steve Ward had his pocket Aces cracked by Q-3 offsuit one too many times on pokerstars. If only we could teach him not to limp with aces... No

Steve's views just illustrates the degree of control that the religious right has over the Republicans. Steve is a good guy in person and a retired marine Colonel. However, he wants to get elected and thinks that pandering is the way to get votes. Hopefully, the Mike Rosen libertarians (which I am part) will get more influence in the future. The only way to get that influence is to take it through organizing.
