World Poker Exchange (WPEX) Empty World Poker Exchange (WPEX)

In my never-ending quest to play all the smaller sites and give a report on each, I bring WPEX. It's the poker arm of sports book World Sports Exchange (WSEX). Funding your account is pretty easy with your debit card. The entity charging your account is WSEX, which looks like some porn site to the bank. Apparently being a perv is fine as long as you don't gamble.

Games are fairly soft. Don't expect to find anything but NLHE, although there are tables for stud, razz and omaha. There's tournaments every 20-30 minutes, some with guarantees, some with added money. I played in a $6 $3000 guaranteed last Saturday. Somehow exactly 50 players signed up so no overlay. My favorite is the midnight (10 pm Mountain time) $75 added $3.30 buyin. Pretty soft because of the added money. I won this Sunday night for $75 first place money. Top 5 were ITM. I've placed ITM in this a number of times, so I have built up a nice roll there. The higher buyin tournaments don't seem to go off, not even the $5 one 20 minutes after the $3 midnight.

The really unique thing about this place is the 75% rakeback. When it started there was 100% rakeback to get the buzz going. Later it went down to 90%. Now it's 75%. It may go down some more, who knows. There's talk of tiered rates. The reason for all of this is to use it as a portal to the sports book and blackjack games.

The screen layout is kinda busy but at least there aren't goofy cartoon avatars like Full Tilt or pix of someone's ugly kid like on Stars. There's supposed to be some big change to the site today, so we'll see what that looks like. Screens aren't resizeable except for the mini view which lets you tile up to 4 tables. Card images are so small tho that I hate that view. Since I only play up to 2 tables anyway, I just cascade them.

Cashing out has been problematic for a lot of people, taking up to a month according to some folks at 2+2. A week and a half ago I tried to cash out $100, but so far it hasn't been processed. I'm in no hurry for the dough though, so we'll see about how that works out. Apparently they kinda suck at customer service.

More on this place after I see the new look tonight.

I remember when they first started out and it was 100% rakeback.

I never made it over to the site, lack of game selection.

Well, I played on the new "improved" WSEX (there's no mention of wPex any more). I like the look of it a little bit better but not much. Instead of a lot of busy looking background with stuff plastered here and there, it's now a table on a background of some vomit inducing speed cloth looking shit. The card images are a bit larger, but not by much. Screens are not resizeable except for the mini view just as before.

They have changed some of the tournaments. The midnight (10 pm Mountain Time) which was $3 with $75 added. It is now $10 $500 guaranteed with a minimum of 40 players. It never got off last night since only 33 had registered. So the guarantee is not really a guarantee if they have too much overlay to pay. Has anyone here ever seen a guarantee on any product that only took effect if enough product was sold? Evil or Very Mad

The rakeback was indeed rolled back to 65% and the rake for charged tournaments does not count toward that. In a stroke of genius they are having VIP tournaments for the players with the largest rake paid. So, ring game players are being offered a donkament, while donkament players are offered $ guaranteed tournaments that don't go off. You guys in B-school, ask your professors if that business model is a winner. Twisted Evil

I'll leave it up to you all as to whether you would wade into this. I'm going to cash out and wait a couple months for my money.

I guess I never reported back on how long it took for the cashout. About 6 weeks. They did send it by Fedex tho.
