Re: WSOP Final Table coverage.
I actually enjoyed it. Unfortunately someone mentioned to me who won just a few hours before watching it on ESPN. It was nice to watch the order in which players busted as I had no clue what places each player took except for the winner. It would have been great to watch if I was not told who won.
I do agree that there was nothing tremendously great about the hands displayed other then Phillips' lack of experience against better players. Overall, I believe the delay helped as far as creating excitement for the final table.

The delay probably helped, but there was no reason ESPN couldn't have this run for four hours. Seriously, what's the point in just showing everyone's all in hand and the Planters Nuts Donk Fold of the day? The buildup served the November Nine, but the actual coverage sucked ass, and in two weeks, no one will care that there was a delay. The delay won't do anything to expand interest in poker amongst the general public.
It's not the visibility of hole cards, but the choice of hands ESPN shows that is what's so horrible about their poker coverage.

Really sucked ass. Who gives a shit about Hellmuth and "This is my life?" Michael Buffer and his blah blah that everyone's heard a million times before. Flushies. Who really gives a shit?
A Nascar race where people go round and round gets longer coverage. Why not just show the crashes, the occasional lead change, a total of maybe 20 out of the 200 laps. That's a quality Nascar experience, right?
The heads up was actually 104 hands; we saw, what, 2 or 3? BULLSHIT!
Interesting sidebar: Peter Eastgate has to pay income taxes from casino winnings to the Danish government of about 72% of his 9.1 million. http://taxabletalk.com/

I have to agree. I was pretty stoked but that soon wore off after a few hands. I don't like the fact they only shoe AK against AQ type hands. What really is annoying is when they come back and a player has about 10 mil more or less. The final showdown was stupid. really?? Two fucking hands?? That's like showing the Super Bowl tape delayed and only showing you the scores. Nothing leading up to how they got there, calls, bluffs, bad beats etc.

Re: WSOP Final Table coverage.
it seems pretty clear there target audience is not poker players.....which makes it even worse that they didn't offer the event in pay-per-view. i liked the delay, but it did not do what they intended it to do. do you guys/girls think it would be better to run the main event footage first, followed by the preliminary events then main event final table? it would give a lot more time to promote the 'november nine' to the general non-poker public and create a lot more hype to commercial sponsors. i also think playing it on a wednesday and heads up on friday followed by about 8 hours of footage on saturday would be the way to go. of course that will never happen since espn has there college football contract. maybe sunday after there nfl preview show.......one can only dream.
