Amendment 50
So it passed.
Couple of questions. When do you think the cities will vote to make it official?
Heres what I think it will change on poker front.
2-5 is toast.
3-6 will be the normal game. with some sort of 1-2NL with a $100 cap to go with it
5-10 will have a smaller following (may be 1 table)
10-20 spread on the weekends and maybe very rarely a 30-60 game.
thoughts?

Re: Amendment 50
I would agree. $1-2 NL will definately be running. I think there may be a 3-6NL and I would love to see something like a $10-$20 spread limit.
As far as the 2-5 game, that's kinda a mixed bag. I'm sure the casinos may want to keep some form of limit game depending on demand, but I think the 2-5 and 5-5 games have created enough of a "bad taste" with the locals that there may not be much demand. Last time I was in Vegas they even has a 2-5 limit game.
IIRC, the towns have the ability to vote on this relatively soon (within the next couple of months). I'm curious to see how many vegas casino lobbists become BH and CC citizens to vote against it...

Re: Amendment 50
I was up there last night and talked to a few dealers about the time frame to get the limits raised. It's now up to the ~100 registered voters in these small towns to decide what they want to allow. They will be voting on Craps, Roulette, limit raises (which can be up to $100, but they can also cap at $50 if they choose), and 24 hour gambling. Any one or all of these can be approved. If they go 24 hours they will still have to obey the state liquor laws and cease alcohol sales at 2:00 AM. I was also told that none of this would take effect until July 2009. Of course this is only what I've heard from dealers in BH.
So it may be a while before we get a taste of 10/20 or 1-100 NL spread. Bring the 24 hour gambling then maybe I won't do the same stupid shit as I did last night and win $600 in 5-5 over 5 hours and lose back $450 in the last 45 minutes before close. *sigh*

Re: Amendment 50
Well, there won't be any NL, no matter what, because of the $100 cap.
There will, however, be what is effectively a $1/2 with $100 cap which will effectively play like $1-2NL. There will also be a $2-5 version, that will be the same, but will have a larger capped buy-in. Probably a $300 buyin max at $1-2, and a $500 buy-in max at $25.
I expect to see $3-6 limit or $4-8 to become the standard game, with $10-20 and $20-40 limit on weekends.
Also, any proposed changes still have to go through the gaming commission, even after each city has its local elections. I wouldn't look for local elections until March or April, because the wording of their ordinances has to be worked out, with periods of public comment, etc, so any real changes won't be until July.
And you probably won't see 24 hour gaming (because of the liquor laws), but you may see them extended until 3am. Without 24 hour liquor sales (which is a BAD idea), there won't be the level of business to justify a 24 hour presence.
As for the dealers, I'm going to throw out there that most of them don't know any more about higher up casino operating decisions, or the legislative process, than anyone else. But yeah, you're looking at probably at least six months before any actual changes take place.

Re: Amendment 50
July 1st is when everything should take affect according to the floor guy at the Gilpin. Also, I would expect to possibly see some mixed games now. I am already saving and dreaming of a 30/60 HORSE game or even a 30/60 stud hi/lo. I am putting chunks of money away at the moment simply in anticiapation of the upcoming raise in stakes. I want 10/20 to be my normal game up there and really don't plan on playing lower than 5/10. I cannot wait..

I highly doubt you will ever see a game like this. I think 10-20 will be pretty rare also.
I think it will be a lot like the games run in KC.. 3-6 5-10 limit with a full kill

You don't think we'll see $2-100 spread-limit like in Deadwood?

I think we absolutely will. In fact, I expect that to be the standard game, along with either $4/8 or $5/10 limit.
Re: Amendment 50
Yeah they had a guy from the gilpin on the radio talking today. July 1st is the date and he said to expect a whole bunch of new games. Omaha was the only one he specifically mentioned. Not to sound like captain obvious, but they will spread anything that people want to play. A HORSE game would be cool if I was any good at it..

4-8 Omaha with a full kill would be pretty nice

Re: Amendment 50
i think they were talking about pot limit. which makes a lot of sense to me. it takes frequant pot size bets to get to the 100$ cap.
