New Job
Well, Danny's recent good fortune must be contagious as I will be starting a new job December 1st as well.
I recently accepted a position with a Downtown Law Firm where I expect my IT skills to grow. This company is much larger then my current place of employment and I will now be part of a team. Not only that, but I'll be directly Downtown one block from 16th street. I'm pretty excited as this is my first "Downtown" job and I look forward to the challenges of the position.
As far as accessing the forum, I'll most likely only check things out at lunch or during my commute. It seems RTD is the best method of transportation as parking is a crazy expense Downtown. Luckily, my trusty IPhone and I will have plenty of time to access the forum and post useless data for you all to read while commuting with the other thousands of people trying to get Downtown at the same time. Perhaps commute should fall under "Bad Beats."

Only until the inevitable port of PokerStars to the iPhone app is released, at which point your commute becomes a "brag"
Re: New Job
working downtown kicks ass. my company just moved down there. there are some fairly cheap lots to park in, but rtd is the way to go as far as i am concerned. usually fire up my ipod or read a book. traffic stresses me out.

Re: New Job
RTD isn't a great option for me, coming from Longmont. But my company just got the award for being the #1 Best Place to Work from the Denver Business Journal today, so I'm pretty chuffed. The downside is, we're now in the Hall of Fame and ineligible to get the award again...
Re: New Job
So, you might in fact just be the 29th or so best since the others are ineligible.
WTG, Scrup. I hope it exceeds your expectation. ++ev
I always hated working downtown because of the high parking rates and crappy bus service, but it beat the Tech Center for me because I'm up north.

True, true, I hadn't thought of that...
But for the last two years, we were in the top 3 in the "medium size company" category, and this was the very first time we went up in the "large firm" category (based on # of employees presumably), and we stuffed it, so ppppfffffffbbbbbbttttttt.
Re: New Job
I live down south. While the Arapahoe PnR is much closer, I find it quicker (except on snowy/rainy days) to drive all the way down to Broadway to pick up the light rail. Plus, fares are cheaper--and parking is free. But since I go to school part-time, I can ride RTD for free.
Not sure where your office is, but there are some pretty cheap lots just north of 20th & Broadway (affectionately known as "Park and Stab" lots--a female co-worker got mugged there last year). If you are really daring, there is free street parking up on Park Ave. as well as the 23rd & Downing PnR.
Otherwise, I believe DPCA still offers monthly parking for $100/month, which isn't all that bad.

Re: New Job
Thanks all for the well wishes!
I live out West close to the Cold Springs PnR (6th & Union). They have an express bus route directly to Civic Center Station. This puts me about 5 blocks from my destination and I could always take the 16th street mall bus to within 1/2 a block from my destination. It will be a nice change to take the bus, of course I say this without actually ever taking the bus. This will be my first experience, but how bad can it be? Plus, this company used to offer the eco-pass. Not sure if this is the case anymore, but a free or low priced bus pass would be a plus.
Mondo, congratulations to your Employer for making the top of the list. Daily fresh fruit and warm breakfast on Fridays... sounds like good times! Maybe I should come visit you before I start my day.
