Not in my opinion, but I think min-raising pf there is unnecessary when at those levels, even folds all around won't net you much. You have nothing but strong low draws, and your hand has no value unless a low hits (or a low % shot at quad 4s).

So I think calling pf is best. After that, the rest of the hand played fine.

My thinking at the time was min raise would build a multi-way pot that realistically I am probably gunning for half of(mistake?). Unfortunately I took that line PF and never really followed through. The more I look at it the more I think I should have potted the turn. Unless he has the A2 with the made flush he is not going to be crazy about putting more money in, and the pot is definately big enough at that point to push him off a marginal hi holding(is this a good play?). I feel like the check check on the turn then river pretty much defines my hand as a low that whiffed. Even though I think he was bluffing I don't think the 44 is holding up ever, and I don't think a re-raise is profitable in the long run. When I posted that bleeding to death message I had been stringing together winning sessions for about 15 of the last 20. Since then I have 1 winning session out of the last 5.....at bigger buy-ins mostly too.

Anyone know a good book to pick up on Omaha hi-lo?

Omaha hi/lo by cappeletti is great. also one I have not read but have always heard great things about is hi/low split poker by ray zee. SS2 has a decent section on omaha hi/lo and covers a lot of other games as well. Jeff Hwangs book on Omaha is good too... I have done quite a few reviews and have done reviews on all of these book except hi/low split by ray zee.

If you really want to learn some of the ins and outs I would definetly reccomend the cappeletti book but Jeff Hwangs book is the only book I have come accross with a section on actual pot limit omaha hi/lo, not to mention the rest of the book is incredible but covers limit and PLO hi. All the others generally cover limit. Here are links to some of my reviews. The one on the cappeletti book is a little off as since writing that review I have learned how much that book really had an influence on my game and even though at times it may seem jumbled, it is because there is just so much info to soak up from this book. Oh yeah, don't ever buy a Ken Warren book, they are crap. GL

I don't like it from preflop on. Your ace is not suited. You have very poor possibilities to scoop. The best you can hope for is a split, and you may get quartered. The minraise is a nice potbuilder for someone, you have a poor shot.

The flop missed you big time. All you have is a gutshot not to the nuts and a draw to the low. Turn and river sucked. All in all, this should be a hand that I would regret from the start.

I have read Ray Zee's book and highly recommend it. I haven't seen the others.

What? If you are going to raise at least pot. I know it's better to "never say never" but for now, never min raise when you play poker unless you are playing structured. Min betting in big bet poker is a move you should remove from your arsenal. I probably call here and see a flop.

You already know that you are drawing to half, most likely 1/4. Not a good spot to be.

I check here all the time. take the free card! You need it! With 4 players in the pot you are not going to get everyone to fold here. Be happy with the free card you are getting. I don't like this bet at all.

Drop the min-raise. It is almost never the right play, and by almost never I mean never ever. Also, if there is one thing you learn from this hand is to play for the whole pot. You were playing for half the whole time, realistically 1/4 with that many in the pot. The best play you made during this hand was checking it down and folding.
