Omaha Hi/Lo up the hill
So who plays up the hill often? I havn't been up since the HPT but remember playing Omaha 8/b at the gates and the Gilpin. Are these still the only two places that spread it? Also when are these games spread? Saturday? Sunday?I am have had the urge to go up the hill but I will not drive all the way up there for a crappy hold em game. Does anyone know of anywhere that spreads just Omaha/8 by itself and not with a mixed game?
<--- looking for any reason to go up the hill before april. 2-5 spread and tournaments with crappy blind structures are not nearly enough.

Re: Omaha Hi/Lo up the hill
The last time I was up the hill, Gates had an Omaha table going. I'm not certain whether or not it was O8, or just Omaha, however. But the table was going.

Cool. Do you recall what day of the week that was? I dno't think I am going to head up the hill unless there is an Omaha/8b game going.Mondogarage wrote:The last time I was up the hill, Gates had an Omaha table going. I'm pretty certain it was a Friday late afternoon, but don't hold me for your gas money if I wuz wrong. It was at least over two months ago, and I'm old.

Cool.. Thank you.

yes check Gates Friday Saturday, I would be shocked if they didn't have at least one game of O8B going.

They aren't spreading it in a mixed game though are they? I can play pineapple and crazy pineapple hi/lo and all those different games but I don't wanna. I want a straight Omaha/8 game (choice is good but not the choices you have up the hill). This is a straight Omaha/8 game (not choice) is what I am asking right?
Re: Omaha Hi/Lo up the hill
As I recall, it was strictly Omaha (or O8, I forget which). Not a Choice game.

Cool.. If I go up it looks like it is on a friday to play Omaha.Mondogarage wrote:As I recall, it was strictly Omaha (or O8, I forget which). Not a Choice game.

I was up there on Saturday and they had an Omaha/8 going (not mixed). Their Saturday noon tournament is not so bad either. $80, 8000 chips, progressive blinds starting at 25/50 and no antes. 7 tables and 1st was $1900, second $1100.PoWdA wrote:Cool.. 20 minut blinds though right? the problems I have with the tourneys up there ar not the chip stacks.. its the blind levelsScrupboy wrote:I was up there on Saturday and they had an Omaha/8 going (not mixed). Re: Omaha Hi/Lo up the hill
It is 20 minute blinds, but overall a decent tournament for the amount of money (IMHO). This tournament usually lasts about 5 hours which isn't bad for that price and the progressive structure. I notice this to be much better then almost any tournament in Vegas that consists of a buy-in of less then $200 and much better then the old chip stacks at the Gates ($2500).PoWdA wrote:20 minut blinds though right? the problems I have with the tourneys up there ar not the chip stacks.. its the blind levelsScrupboy wrote:I was up there on Saturday and they had an Omaha/8 going (not mixed). If I had my preferred method it would be 30 minute rounds like the Gilpin Sunday 300 (15,000 chips, 30 minute rounds). The extra 10 minutes does make a huge difference allowing the game to go about 10 hours with 5 or 6 tables, but it costs $300 (last time I played went out in 7 hrs with two tables left). I like this type of tournament as the reward is worth the time played (around $4000 for 1st) but I'll take the $80 for a good 5 hour tournament. Of course, this is my opinion.
Re: Omaha Hi/Lo up the hill
Yeah the 300 is easily the best tourney I have ever played up the hill. Good structure and a ton of chips (if you buy in the full amount up front). I really enjoyed that tourney but like you said it is $300. The HPT is the only tournament up there with a comparable/better structure but that tourney is of course, not happening every week. I don't like the 20 minutes because I feel way to pressured to make a move. the blinds just escalate so fast. I guess I am spoiled after playing the WSOP with the 1 hour blind levels. THAT is a good structure but I understand why casinos can't run small buy-in, 1 hour blind level tourneys everyday. 30 minutes is so much better than 20 though.Scrupboy wrote:It is 20 minute blinds, but overall a decent tournament for the amount of money (IMHO). The Omaha 8 table at Gates is insane. Even the old ladies ram and jam!
