Saturday, May 3rd
So..... I'm headed up the hill on Saturday to get away from reality and attempt to make some money. I don't know many people that can handle the marathon run of poker that I usually expose myself to on a full Saturday. If anyone's interested or wants to carpool from about 11 AM to possibly closing time, give me ring. Besides, I have about $100 worth of food comps up there that are just going to waste and I'm always willing to treat someone to a free meal.

<--- can no longer leave the house with less than a months notice and that is if the boss approves of me going out that day a month later. She also now reserves the right to change her mind at any minute up to and including the time of the actual event.
Sorry man, not only that but I have lost every scrap of faith I ever had at using skill to win at 2-5.

Sounds like me with the $1 SnG's on pokerstars.
Unfortunately I don't have the BR to pull off a trip up the hill for a while. I've got to save my money so I can lose it on the 10th and 17th.

If there was a gaurunteed Omaha hi/lo game on saturdays then I would plan a trip in the upcoming weeks but I'm not going up that hill to play hold em anytime soon.dexman1349 wrote:PoWdA wrote:Sorry man, not only that but I have lost every scrap of faith I ever had at using skill to win at 2-5.

Yeah, if there was a Limit O8 game up there, I would be more inclined to go. I've been practicing my PLO8 game lateley and think I could be profitable up there playing it.

Re: Saturday, May 3rd
Well an Omaha 8 game is naturally going to be a profitable game when you are constantly in pots with bunch of people who don't fold. I tend to play a pull style of Omaha 8 that works betting in multi-way pots than in shorthanded games. I am always hunting down the games with the most people per flop online as they are the best games. Any game with more than 6 people seeing the flop often is a dream game for Omaha 8. I jsut can't play hold em up there anymore.dexman1349 wrote:Yeah, if there was a Limit O8 game up there, I would be more inclined to go. Re: Saturday, May 3rd
I broke even a couple of weeks ago giving me the feeling of playing on borrowed money. It went like this:
11 AM sign up for $80 noon tourney at GG
12 PM cash out for $30 win from 2/5
2:30 PM bust out of tourney by a series of hands, AQ < A6, 10/10 < 2/2, K/10 < KQ. Got my money in with the best of it except for that last one when I was short stacked and had 1 more round left.
3 PM buy into and play the $150 3:00 tournament at The Gilipin
4:30 PM get busted by Jamal
5 PM buy $100 into a 2/5 game at GG
8 PM rebuy for $50 in the 2/5 game at GG
1:45 AM cash out for $351 due to casino closing
2 PM tip vallet $1 get car and go home
Perhaps this time I can make some money in tournament play and not have to grind it out for 8 hours to get my money back.
I feel for ya PoWda! With the 4 kids and the 'hot' wife, I almost never get any time for myself. Every other Saturday has been reserved for 'me' time. Only problem is the next month and a half will be busy so this may be my last opportunity to spend a day on poker.

I've been playing pretty much the .01/.02 6max tables on Pokerstars and I look for the largest $/hand I can find. I can usually walk away up $1-2 after an hour or two (unless I get into the funk I have for the last 3 days where I'm down $2 per day ).
I'm going to play a stake over the next couple of days and I hope that will help take me off of O8 tilt.

I would go if I wasn't a total broke ass.....besides I have a $.25/$.50 NL cash game lined up that evening.
if anyone is interested shoot me a PM we still have room....it won't be one of those crazy games like Danny played in a couple weeks ago however.
Edit: game is in the Lone Tree area

Re: Saturday, May 3rd
I usually fold my way to the first break, it takes me that long to get enough beers in me so that I feel like I can play poker.
I was doing some quick calculations in my head at the last tourney. I'm pretty sure that you somehow managed to see more than 100% of the flops. You should loosen up your game.

when I have other plans lined up, I'm either going out real fast or I'm going to win the whole thing in about 2 and a half hours.....don't think the 2nd thing has ever happened.

I'll give you the short update.dexman1349 wrote:Hey Son, how'd the weekend treat you? Any updates on the trip up the hill Saturday?
Played the $80 noon tournament at Golden Gates that had 70 players paying top 7. Started with 8000 chips and had 16,000 at break 1 (nice pot w/quad 7s). Then only 12,000 after break 2 (I'll post a possibly misplayed hand in another section). Went card dead for 3 rounds at 1500/3000 blinds. This basically killed me and I pushed with 55 to a call from the table leader with A-10. Flop comes Q-9-8 turn brings a 6 then the 7 on the river giving both of us a straight, but mine was the ignorant end. Out with about 23 players left. Live action was rough and almost hit the bad beat twice. Once held 6h6d board came 6c2s3s then blank, blank. I lose with my set of 6's to 4s5s. Open ended straight flush and if the case 6s hits the board it would have been pay day. Then I had 10-10 and the board comes 10sJs5h, turn is the 7s and I slow down my betting from a early position new shooter bet. I pray for the board to pair and wala... J on the river. Opponent bets, I raise, he re-raises, I re-raise (putting him on a flush since he bet when turn spade came) and he re-raises. finally I call fearing jacks full to where he turns over 8s9s for a straight flush. Damn, if only the river would have been a 10 instead of a J I would be sitting on 32k. Oh well, that's how my night went and I had my AA taken down by K2 at about 1:00 AM to bring my losses to $250 for the day and decided to call it a night. Got home around 1:45 AM, down $250 and played some COD4. I sucked, but only lost about $18/hr.
...on another note, just found out that we will be visiting the Grandmother-in-law in Rapid City, SD in two weeks. Looks like I'll need to somehow make my way to Deadwood over that weekend.
