Jamal and the Main Event
As you may know, Jamal won a main event seat when his name was pulled in the drawing at The Gilpin. He played yesterday (day 2a), and is still in sitting on 152,700 in chips. Would be nice to see him make it deep or even take it down!

Nice! Did you hear from him or how did you get this information? I hope he does well.
Re: Jamal and the Main Event
I saw his name on the Chip Counts page and got a text last night.
AK - I take it you don't care much for Jamal? lol

Re: Jamal and the Main Event
I like Jamal just fine (in my limited exposure to him over two or three occasions). He's a pleasant dude. But damn if he's not the luckiest son of a bitch around. Poker skill is one thing, but winning the seat in a drawing, catching the BBJ, etc...rigged, I tells ya, rigged.

nah he's fine..we were giving him shit the Saturday before he went out about that horseshoe in his butt. I've lost alot of money to that bastard, but I did have my first big tourney cash against him a few years ago when they used to have the $250 Saturday Night at the Gilpin

Re: Jamal and the Main Event
Don't see Jamal listed on Day 3. Strange.
Sad news...
Sad news...
We have at least two unclaimed stacks in the room today, one of which belongs to Vimy Ha. His chips reside at Table Blue 16, but he has not touched them today, and it is now clear that they will be unused for the duration of the Main Event.
PokerNews received word today that Vimy's young niece and nephew, one and three years old, respectively, tragically drowned in their pool in Coppell, Texas yesterday evening. Vimy flew out from Las Vegas first thing this morning to be with his family, and he has not returned to play Day 3.
Vimy Ha's overnight chip count was 190,600, and right now there are still 99,100 of them in front of his empty chair. With each round of play costing 8,100 chips, it is actually feasible that Ha could cash despite his absence, though that is no matter to him at the present.
Every now and then, we receive an unfortunate reminder of what is really important in life, and poker is certainly not at the top of the list. PokerNews offers our sincerest condolences to Ha and his family.

Re: Jamal and the Main Event
Jamal was listed during the first several hours of Day 3, but without any updates to his stack...so I dunno what's going on.
That is extremely sad about Vimy, though.

Re: Jamal and the Main Event
I see him listed with 201k in chips... Link to Chip Count Since he's an unknown they won't update his count through the day.
Very sad for Vimy, but he did cash for 25,090. He's the second guy who left in the middle due to a death in the family

Re: Jamal and the Main Event
Weird...I think they're just doing slow updates to chip counts, because that's where I've been checking hourly, the same page you linked. Oh well. Nice to see he's already well on his way in the ultimate freeroll.

Something like that... he wasn't listed at 7am, but he was at 8:30.

Well, I figure you might rob him for the wallet, and reach into his ass just for the fun of it.

Re: Jamal and the Main Event
From Card Player...
Bad Time to Push
Jamal Sawaqdeh was in the small blind and called a preflop raise from the player with the button. The flop came KdJd10d, and after Sawaqdeh checked, the button went all-in for 47,900. Sawaqdeh made the call and and showed QdJs for middle pair, along with flush and straight draws. His opponent could only manage Qh3c for the open-ender. The Kc on the turn didn't change anything, but the 9d on the river gave Sawaqdeh the straight flush to eliminate his opponent.
