Question about ordering pizza Empty Question about ordering pizza

Post  PoWdA Mon Sep 08, 2008 4:20 pm

So I want to order a pizza, wings, and breadsticks to eat during the game tonight. I always order Dominos and I always order online and it works great, there is never an issue. My question is should I order now and set the delivery time for ~8:00 or wait until around 7:30 and order? On the website there is a feature where you can either have the pizza delivered ASAP or choose a later time. My thought are that they will be really busy (game) and late if I order around 7:30ish and if I order online they will be on time but my pizza might not be fresh.*

So do I order now and trust that my pizza will be on time AND fresh or wait until 730ish and get a most likley late (game time, big rush for them I am sure) but ~fresh pie.

This is the biggest decision I am making in my life right now.

Thank you.

* for those who have never worked a pizza place/delivery place generally when you have a timed order sitting there from early in the day you try to make the food before a known rush and then just send it out whenever you have an available driver near the time of scheduled delivery hence orders placed at say 3PM for an 8PM delivery may be cooked around 730ish and not sent until 800PM, (timliness tends to come before freshness in these situations.) a risk I don't know if I want to take.

Either way, I think you'll be lucky to get a fresh anything during the game.

There is a possibility that this will be moving to the bad beats section at 8:15 b/c of cold pizza and wings.

Thanks for the reply. I have decided to gamble. I am going to order at about 7:30 and expect the pie @ 8:15.

This will be moved to beats if the pizza arrives later than 45 mins (30 min normal time + 15 min game leeway = 45 min ETA)

Hey Danny, Don't you have the worst luck with pizza ordering anyway? I recall the time you tried to order pizza during a tournament and you never got it! Razz

Well, as Danny didn't move this to the Beats section, I presume it showed up on time, and no food poisoning?

Since Denver was probably already winning the game even before it started, no reason for disgruntled pizza delivery people or pizza makers...mabye this should become a brag!!!

Okay so I played it super safe. I ordered the pie at about 700 and ate before the game. It turned out well, pizza arrived in ~20 minutes hot and fresh, the wings were gone first, followed by half of the pie (I just finished the last of it before typing this.) I have run bad with pizza before. Never again.

Way back in the day I pedaled pie. If the Broncs were winning tips were good; if they lost you lost. One Monday night on Halloween they were utterly stomped on in Indianapolis. I made 5 bucks in tips all night and everyone bitched about the pizza.

I used to deliver pie. Destroyed my car in a blizzard for that fucking place over and over again and the bastard owner had the balls to accuse me of stealing one night. I quit. That pissed me off.

brag: I helped a woman get into her building as she was new and did not know the key-code. ( I was delivering a pizza to a person in the same building). Anyway I get back to the store and there was another order for that same building. It was her and she tipped me $80.

brag 2: We also had a pool going that whoever got the most tips would get the pool. I nailed that for another $20.

Letting unknown strangers into secure buildings is +EV
